On a hilly bike ride yesterday, I had my Forerunner 35 watch strapped to my handlebars, my Garmin HR chest strap on, and my iPhone in my back jersey pocket. When climbing uphill (i.e. going slowly, with no wind noise in my ears), I could hear my phone announcing my heart rate every 3 or 4 minutes, whatever it was. I would hear a voice say "Heart rate 161", and then later after a descent, "Heart rate 123". I cannot figure out what was making the phone do that, or how to make it stop, other than muting the phone. I cannot find any related settings on Garmin Connect or on my watch, and I can't find anywhere in my phone to enable or control audible heart rate notifications. I also checked the Apple Health app to see if there was a setting there I had missed, but I can't find anything. I can't tell whether the voice was Siri or a different voice (I have Siri set to use a specific accent, but the notifications were too short to hear much of an accent).
Does anyone know where the audible notifications are coming from, or how to make them stop? I don't necessarily want to broadcast my heart rate to my riding buddies all the time, and I already deal with battery issues on my phone so extra Bluetooth communication will only make that worse. Besides, I might actually want to have audible alerts for interval workouts, which is a feature I have not used yet but I know I have in the FR 35, so I'd like to be able to control them. I have never heard these announcements before, and I've done 40 or 50 activities (runs, bike rides, and hikes) with this watch since I got it at Christmas.
