Is it possible to delete a personal record?

I did an indoor run on a treadmill, and the distance estimate that the watch recorded was way, way off (a 5mi run was recorded as a 7mi run). I now have these absurd 5K and 10K personal records that I'll probably never beat.

I've tried editing the distance of the run, but that did not impact the bogus "personal record".

Do I have to just delete that activity entirely? Or will even that not work?

Is it possible to exclude non-GPS runs entirely from personal records so that this does not happen again?

You can delete personal records on the watch and in Garmin Connect.

On the watch you can do the following:
    • Access the menu (press and hold up key)
    • Select History
    • Select Records
    • Select Running
    • Select the record to be deleted
    • Select Clear Record
    In Garmin Connect:
    • Select Personal Records from the side panel
    • Select Running
    • Accept or decline any personal record that needs to be acknowledge
    • Click the trash can icon and Remove any incorrect record
  • I could not find "Personal Records" in the Garmin Connect Android app.

However, I removed the bogus record on the watch last night. Then this morning, it gave me a new PR for this AMs run via the watch. However, when I checked the web interface, it was still showing the bogus treadmill PR (even after sync'ing, with this AM's run visible in the web interface). So I guess each interface has its own notion of records.. I finally managed to delete the bogus treadmill based PR from the web interface, so maybe it will all make sense after my next run.

My original question: How can I prevent this from happening the next time I do a treadmill run? Is there any way to only count GPS based runs for personal records?

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Garmin-Joey was referring to Garmin Connect online, i.e. the web interface, and not the Garmin Connect Mobile apps. Don't make the mistake of assuming that where an app also exists for a cloud-based service, the app would be the default/expected means of access instead of the web interface; forget on what mobile handset users may prefer to do all their user interaction.

Hi there! Accidentaly I declined a personal record Garmin Connect iOS app, although I still have the PR oin my fenix 5S. Do you know how can I push it again to Garmin Connect to accept the PR?
    thank you!! :)
  • I think you need to re-sync the activity somehow.
  • When viewing an activity in Garmin Connect online, you will be able to select the gear icon at the top right and select Set As PR for the desired distance.
  • To reassign the correct PR I change the activity and by restoring the original activity the records are set as when syncing the first time.

To remove old PR which stays in the list of PR I change the type of activity to something else (eg run to hike) to remove the PR from the list. When recorrecting the type of activity the PR isn't added as PR for running.
