No Active Calories Counted from Walking

I've been using a Forerunner 25 for running/walking and an Edge 520 for cycling. I haven't had trouble syncing both devices in the past, and I've made sure I have the latest updates installed. However, my Garmin Connect no longer records any active calories from my walking. It's recording my runs and cycling data perfectly; only walks currently pose problems. This is a recent issue. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
  • Are you talking about the Active Calories report not showing calories from a logged walking activity?

I discovered that problem 3-4 months ago. I don't know if it has ever worked.

As far as I can see, the Garmin Developers have gotten themselves confused because the Active Calories report use the term "Walking" to describe active calories from daily steps (outside logged activities). So some Garmin developer probably thought: "Oh, someone already added Walk activities to the Active Calories report. Good, then I don't have to do it..."

I have made a few threads about the subject. I have also written to Garmin. But it doesn't appear to get much attention, neither from Garmin nor from other users.

Just started using a Vivosport, and I am noticing the same problem. Active Calories report missing all the calories from "Walking" activities. Quite frustrating.

After changing my "walking" activities to "hiking," I noticed that the calories from "steps" are counted as "walking" on the Active Calories report... So any activity named "Walking" will not be counted due to the system trying not to count calories from "steps" during a workout. Definitely a bug that needs to be fixed.

Yes, that is what I described above.
