Forerunner 35 not updating

My forerunner device will not update. It is stuck on version 2.70. I have tried all the fixes. Tried using different PCs. downloaded the gupdate file. Deleted old GUPDATE file. deleted all histories. Removed devices, added devices. On the garmin express when I sink it says updated to 3.30 but then if you look on the device it say updated to 2.70. The watch continually tries to update - but freezes. I have searched as many forums as I can for suggestions - but have run out. Any further ideas?
I have exactly the same problem. Some advice said to download rng file, but there was nothing on the link given. Freezing software update drives me mad because it happens at least once a day/night and it won't go away until a device is connected to the computer. It is really annoying when you want to check the time in the night or when the system freezes when you want to go to exercise. Absolutely nothing works. Did you get any help?
