Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

Thank you for the continued discussion and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

06/19/2018: A new update has been posted here.

  • made a minor edit, badge disappeared. challenge is missing too

Try exporting the Activity in GC Web as "Original", deleting it, and then importing the original at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data without editing it.

weather data seems bugged. started around 8:30, temp was below freezing, but warmed up by the time i got back. badge was initially awarded, but later disappeared. only changing the time would bring it back. reloading event did not work

The map of that activity shows 4.4°C, hence no freezing temperature. What your watch measures is unimportant. It is the data from the local weather station that is used.

  • the weather data seems to be bugged, though. as far as i can tell it's using weather station 72314: www.weathercast.co.uk/.../72314.html

which shows 4.4C around the time i ended, and more like -1.7 around the time i started. the wind data matches the ending time too.

    02.12.2020 10:00:00 4,4 -4,4 8 4 - - SSW 1025,6 16 0,0
    02.12.2020 09:00:00 1,7 -3,9 8 4 - - W 1024,9 16 -
    02.12.2020 08:00:00 -1,7 -4,4 9 5 - - W 1024,1 16 -

i kind of don't want to delete the other one. i barely scraped in the 400k cycling badge that month, and i suspect deleting an activity will make that badge disappear too.

It looks like the entire activity has to be in the freezing temperature. Next time you can start early, stop the activity before the temperature raises, and then doing the rest as another activitity.

It will disappear, when you delete the activity, and it will reappear when you reimport it.

  • i tried trimming the activity, and that didn't trigger it. it's like it just has the wrong data. it initially showed 25 degrees on the app, too

  • i tried trimming the activity, and that didn't trigger it

I doubt strongly that you could get the tempereature for the time of the section you trimmed the activity to. More likely it will re-read the current temperature. It is simply the temperature of the time when the FIT file is saved to the GC account - and the trimming will have the same effect, hence the high temperature. You better re-do the activity again, the days are getting colder anyway Slight smile

  • i live in south florida, so this is a sorta difficult one for me to get. i don't think it's going to drop below freezing again here before i go home.

on the other one, can you find the link for the august weekend 40k challenge? it's not in my past challenges at all, i think the badge is broken because it dropped me from the challenge.

i saw in another thread you posted a link like this: connect.garmin.com/.../12A8929D89A94120A830F62629E036AD which shows a "join" button for me, because i never joined that challenge. that button doesn't seem to do anything though.

edit: i did some testing, and it's definitely not based on when the fit file was saved. i made a dummy 10 second one just now, and back dated to just before my ride, and it's got 25 (-1.7) degrees at 8:22, and 40 (4.4) at 8:23. there's no way it warned up that much in one minute. i guess i'll just add a few minutes to the beginning of my ride.

You cannot join an August Challenge now. It was already closed since a long time.

    OK, good to know.

  • can you find the link for the august weekend 40k challenge?

Anyway if you want to check the status of that badge, its ID is E92442E12E3B4EB8890EA31B00B595FC, so you just replace it in the URL from the other thread

  • so if i was in the challenge, got the badge, and then somehow got dropped and lost the badge, is there any way to fix it? i had the badge, and the challenge.

  • yeah, it shows "join challenge" for me. it seems to have lost the record that i had joined it.
