Where does Garmin get the metadata to calculate my VO2 max, etc?
Former Member
As a new 935 owner (upgraded from 220, and think I'm in love), I'm curious as to where Garmin gets their metadata. For example, when my VO2 max improves and I'm suddenly in a higher percentile for my age/gender group, what is the information used to make this determination based on?
Age related norms based on many years and results of research data. You have to remember when looking at the results that the grouping is an average of many thousands of samples. That means there will always be individual outliers. In general, most people fall within the bands.
I guess the most important question is: Is the norm in those diagrams based on the full population (in which country(ies)) or only on reported data from other Garmin Connect users.
