Activity not uploaded after yesterday Garmin connect outage

Hello,
I've got a server error while syncing my watch yesterday. I've insisted a bit till I could see the activity on Strava (I've activated the auto sync), but the activity isn't visible on Garmin connect.
I've tried to sync again after Garmin connect was restored, but the activity doesn't show up, neither in Garmin connect, nor in the phone app, I guess it's flagged as synched on the watch since I could see the activity on Strava.
I could get the GPX from Strava and upload onto Garmin connect, but since some data will be lost, I would prefer to be able to do a proper sync.

What should I do?
Thanks for your help
Samuel
  • Depending on the device you're using, you could manually import the activity from your device directly using the icon on the top left of the list of activities.

    Hello Phil,
Thanks for your answer. I'm using Connect app on Android but I don't see such icon. On the top left there's always the main menu. I can add a manual activity or launch a sycn. I had a new activity today which was well synced, but yesterday's activity is not there.
If with device you mean Garmin device, I'm using a Fenix 5 and there's no such icon.

  • This would be on web Connect.

Ok thanks for the advice, I'll try when I have the watch cable with me, it goes through Garmin Express then.
  • You can try through Express but it probably won't sync. When you attach it to a PC, it should show up as a windows drive. Then you pick up the file from the Garmin/activity folder.

    Hi Phil,
I forgot to get my cable today, but I could see the activity as ghost one after syncing a new running activity (visible in the calendar dashboard, but not browsable from previous and next activity. A save of the activity itself has solved the issue and made it fully available.
Sure I'll check also the file from the watch next time I'm connecting it to my laptop.

Thanks again very much for your help

  • This is the closest thread related to my problem. I have a Forerunner 35 that synched perfectly with Garmin Connect and still does, except for my Activity from yesterday. I can see the Activity in my devices History but it will not show up on my Garmin Connect. In fact, the exact time of the Activity shows up as a blank space on my ongoing heart rate monitoring. I have tried to interrogate on my App ( Android ) and also PC ; I have uninstalled the device on my Andoid phone and re-synched a couple of times .... no joy. The Activity is ion my History but doesn't move to Garmin Connect. Another point is that when I attached the charging cable to PC, it prompts to Format Drive G so I can not even get to see what is on the drive to import the Activity file ...
    Would appreciate input - thx!
  • I suggest that you enter as many details as possible manually into Connect and if you can somehow get to the activity on your PC, manually import it from the list of activities screen and then delete the original manual entry.

Rather than formatting, try to run chkdsk on the watch instead. I had an issue with my watch about a year ago where my PC would BSOD everytime I plugged my watch into a USB port. Running chkdsk fixed it for me. This was something a Garmin developer support person recommended. He must have spent 2 hours with me that day.
