display stat averages across the currently selected range and/or zoom area

Currently, the averages for a particular stat (HR, pace, etc) are only available over the entire activity.

It'd be very useful to also show the average for the currently selected area while dragging the cursor across a particular range (i.e in addition to showing the instantaneous value and time at the cursor position), and subsequently for the desired zoomed range.
  • You may like to know that this feature is already available on the Android app when you make a graph full screen.
  • Thank You! I came here to ask this same question this is awesome!

I am also really hoping that this feature will be available in the future!!! When you select a range and/or zoom an area i would need to know the average for the currently selected area. Also the the stats and time in zones in an acivity should vary according to the selection. This feature is very important to analyze an activity and at the moment i have to use other applications to analyce the activity.

    • I do not agree with the conclusion or assertion of “should”.
    • It's un-bloody-likely that Time-In-Zones information will vary in that way in Garmin Connect online or the Garmin Connect Mobile apps, given that it is recorded by your Garmin wearable device (only if the particular model supports the Time In Zones feature), with no HR data (post- or re-)processing done in Garmin Connect itself upon/after upload of the activity record. Yes, it's technically possible to implement it in Garmin Connect, but no, there is no onus or obligation to provide the additional analytic capability as a software solution, even if the device model supports Time In Zones (and diligently writes the summary into the timed activity record upon saving the activity).

And you should, because Garmin Connect was never intended to be or marketed as a complete, extensive, versatile or flexible analytics and reporting solution for users who like to drill down into the detail. GC does a bit of rolling summary data up (weekly, monthly, yearly, or for the last four weeks, last six months, between custom dates, etc.) to a macro level, but not so much in terms of allow users to arbitrarily ‘re-cut’ or group data points within a single activity record to create micro views.

Luckily, there are other solutions out there for the keen user, and whether it takes additional effort and expense to avail oneself of those solutions is not Garmin's concern.
