How to un-retire a device

I loaned my vivofit to my son and now i have it back. i am able to use it with my iphone and sync it fine but the garmin connect online says it is retired. how can i un-retire it? thx...
That didn't work for me in 2022. I had to go to https://connect.garmin.com and select "Devices & Sync Status" in the top right corner. Then select the right Garmin product and remove the retired product. THEN I could reconnect with it.
