Use CIQ data to substitute native data fields in FIT files

Currently IQ data is shown alongside the native fields and is not used for the summary workout data at all in Garmin Connect, thus creating a mess. E.g., ErgIQ app for indoor rowing derives lots of stats from Concept2 rowing machine, but it's not shown in the summary (zero distance, no pace), and splits tables show either empty (distance, pace) or nonsensical info (about 20-50 total total strokes instead of 1000+ reported by IQ, significantly overestimated average and max stroke rate). Also, if IQ data fields are used to substitute the native fields, it would be possible to properly export FIT files to other platforms (such as Strava) with all data fields.

Sorry if this has been requested earlier, couldn't find it.
  • If you want to customise what goes into a FIT file as the key metrics on record for a timed activity, you should look at developing/commissioning/installing full-blown CIQ apps that completely take over the tracking process, instead of mixing and matching what is natively provided in factory-installed activity profiles (or ‘apps’) and third-party CIQ data fields.
  • Well, this is why I'd like to ask Garmin to take care of this, so that I don't spend additional EUR 35 for FFRT and spend extra time playing with FIT files there :)

    As to the
    ???

Is it possible? I'm not a CIQ developer, but if there is such a possibility, why don't they (CIQ developers) just do it? I'm not using a factory-installed activity profile for indoor rowing at all, I run ErgIQ, but native data fields still find their way into FIT files corrupting everything there.
  • @oleksiy.yergiyev: Why should Connect?IQ developers just do satisfy your need, especially if they have a personal need for such an app and don't think it's commercially worth their while to make it available on the market?
  • Well, at least the developer of ErgIQ would be happy to tweak the app in such a way that its data replaces all native fields in the FIT file, according to his messages in the app related forum thread. If it were possible.
