I believe this is already a feature in the D2 Bravo (shares the same sensor? as e.g. Fenix 3 HR?) but I would love an additional option, to be able to calibrate my altimeter to known sea level pressure from e.g. local weather service, aerodrome, etc. rather than just the “known elevation” option on the Fenix 3 HR. I know there is a gps option for calibration, and I know I can enter known elevation, but there are situations where inputting the sea level pressure would be more efficient.
You are asking in a forum where you can make suggestions for Garmin Connect. Not suggestion for Garmin watches. Also, you don't mention which watch you want your request implemented in.
Anyway, what you suggest could be a nice feature, but from the discussions on these forums, I got the impression that most Garmin users are not ready for the present functionality of a barometric altimeter. If your functionality was added, these users might be even more confused.
The F5 has an option to input barometric pressure at sea level during altimeter calibration. But the way I have seen it described, it unfortunately doesn't do what you want. But I could be wrong about that so it may be worth investigating.
I guess it would be possible for someone to write a widget where you can input the barometric pressure, and the widget will take the signal from the ambient pressure sensor and calculate your altitude - which you can then use for calibrating your altimeter. I know, it is only a workaround, but might be better than nothing.
Oh thanks for the tip on the incorrect forum. I’ll re-enter it. I was thinking about something along the lines of your suggestion already for a calibration helper wiget/app and I think I will code that...
