Garmin Connect Changed by BRM Calories - Now it is Way Too Low

In one day my BMR calories per day went from 2,785 kcal per day to 1,191 kcal per day. Really? If I only consumed 1,200 calories in one day, I would be dead. I burn more than that on one ride alone.
  • Just to be sure: You are not looking at the BMR of the day where you did you last synchronization between watch and GC, are you?

BMR is accumulated over the day, and when you synchronize, you get the accumulated BMR for the time of synchronisation. So if your daily BMR is 2400, and you synchronize at noon, you will only see a BMR of 1200 in GC for that day. If you do a new synchronization the next day, the value will be updated to the BMR for the full day.

    Just going back and checking:

Today, early in the morning, it is 2,120

    Yesterday's is still 1,190.

    The day before was 1,320.

Everyday before that it was always well over 2,000.

Must have been a 2 day glitch?
  • Did your recorded weight or age somehow change a lot over these days?

As far as I know, BMR is a function of weight, age and gender only. So there should not be any great variations ever. Any calorie consumption from activities or Daily Steps will be shown as Active Calories and not included in BMR.
