I used a Garmin Forerunner 220 watch with a Garmin Foot pod for my outdoor walks. The foot pod showed connected to the watch , but when I download the watch to Garmin Connect, I can't find the steps recorded. I found one screen that shows pace and cadence, but nothing showing steps. Does the foot pod not record step data? Or, is the data just hiding somewhere in Connect and I am missing it?
The Foot Pod is able to provide cadence and pace information and doesn't record steps. Since the Foot Pod does not show step data, and the Forerunner 220 does not have any activity tracking features, you would need a device that has that feature. A similar device to the Forerunner 220 would be the Forerunner 230.
I also miss a device which counts the steps of the footpod from Garmin. As far as I know, there is none. The vivoactive HR has the protocoll "indoor walking" which counts steps. But it does not count the steps of the foot pod. Complain here to add it:
