Some others have experienced the same issue but nobody has a fix. GARMIN, are you listening?
I have Fenix 5X paired with a Galaxy Note8. Had it for less than 2 weeks now. Ever since it was new, the notifications don't work consistently. Started out ok for the 1st day and then stopped. Then after powering off the watch and back on, it worked. I thought, "ok, maybe it was a glitch or something". Next morning, no notifications. Checked forums and it was suggested to check Do Not Distrurb settings. Had set to "while sleeping". Turned off DNS completely. Nothing... Cycled watch power again, now it works for about a day. Quit again on my way home from work. Another forum suggested to check Android settings under app manager, Garmin Connect app, set permissions to allow SMS... I did this and reset watch again. it works again for about a day. Went through Garmin connect app settings and changed notifications from select apps to ALL APPS. Thought I hit the jackpot because it worked for about 3 days after this. NOPE... stopped again yesterday morning. Verified Bluetooth is connected and double checked all other settings (phone, android system, garmin connect, watch settings - went through all of this over and over). Cycled watch power off and back on again and it works. Received notifications until dinner time. Then it stopped receiving notifications again. Reset it again and by morning, it had stopped working again! Getting pissed now. I don't want to throw a $700 watch in the garbage but I am so upset about this, I just want it to work!. I reset it again about 3 hours ago and so far so good but dammit, I shouldn't have to reset the power several times per day (or week if I'm lucky) on something that costs this much money.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
Any help would be appreciated...
Especially from GARMIN. <<HINT, HINT
If I can't get this thing working, I'm going to make it my mission to spread the word to the entire world... FENIX 5 series is trash. Don't buy it! Cannot get simple functions to work. Could have bought a timex if all i wanted was to see what time it is. Heck, I can't even trust that that is correct.
