Sleep time cannot be corrected

A couple of days ago I started to have a strange Problem. Usualy my fenix 3 HR doesn't properly recognize my sleep times. I don't mind it too much, since I simply correct the values manualy on GCM. Lately though, after I correct the times in GCM, it reverts back to the first values after I sync my fenix again (either via BT or via Wifi, doesn't matter how). Only possible way to keep my values, is to go to GC(M) after midnight and change the values on yesterday's sleep. Those are beingt kept after re-syncing my fenix. It's only todays value that get reverted back.

- tried with GCM on Android - problem persists
- tried with GCM on iOS - problem persists
- tried with GC on the PC (Browser) - problem persists
- tried deleting GCM App and re-installing it - - problem persists
- tried a power-cycle of the watch (and the mobile devices) - - problem persists

Only thing I have not tried yet, is a hard reset of my fenix, and I'm really not willing to do it yet. I don't think it's watch-related anyway, I rather think it has something to do with GC. I also don't think a solution is possible right now so I'm actualy curious to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.
  • The sleep bug is present in older versions of GCM,when before there was not? So reverting dosen't help.
I can't blame it on my watch version either,as multiple device's are effected.
Seems to be a different problem, as it dosen't make sense.
  • I've also been suffering with this for the last 2 weeks.

However, it's important to understand that the sleep calculations aren't made on the device, or on your devices or your computer - the device syncs its raw data with Garmin's servers and it's there that the data is interpreted (usually wrongly!) to ascertain sleep/wake times. These times are then synced back to your device(s)/GCM/GC. If you make any manual changes to those times, either through GCM or GC, those changes should then by synced back to Garmin's servers and should overwrite the ones previously calculated and a 'flag' be set to prevent them being re-calculated. However, it looks like something's going wrong with the last part of this process and even when manually updated, sleep times are being re-calculated and allowed to overwrite the manual changes.

tl;dr: This problem has nothing to do with your devices, GCM or GC - it's server-side issue that only Garmin can fix. So don't waste time on hard resets, re-installing firmware or re-installing GCM.
  • Neil,

You could not be more correct.
Has anyone logged a support ticket with Garmin about this?
  • pshare I've been helping Garmin support with lots of screenshots and info here's a snippet:-)....

    Dear Samuel,

First of all, please accept our apologies for not answering your email in the time we quoted on our website. Due to an unforeseeable high volume of emails and calls we’ve received this has led to a backlog, which we’ve been working hard to restore to our usual service levels.

Thank you very much for all the screenshots. I haven't seen any screenshots regarding intensity minutes, could I ask for those as well please?
With regards to your other issues, we have recently made some adjustments that should allow you to edit activities without the calorie information being adjusted. Can I confirm that that is the case for you as well?
With regards to your sleep information. Can I ask if this is presented accurately in the Garmin Connect website (connect.garmin.com)?

Lastly, in order to investigate this further, we will need to access your Garmin account by resetting your password, this will only be actioned once we receive your consent. Can you please confirm your consent by responding to this email?

Please note, we do not require your current password. A random password will be generated by us directly and sent to you via email, along with instructions on how to reset to a new password, which we strongly recommend you perform immediately after receiving those instructions

    Kind regards,

    Loek

    Garmin Europe.

Ps..Agreed what Neil said makes complete sense....

thanks. could you keep users updated on the process? i have had problems with sleep recording this night again, after the app (iOS) und watch (VA3) worked well for about a week. when i manually enter the times, light and deep sleep is even shown on the "card" on the app's starting page. when i try to access the sleep data, nothing is shown.

Have the same issue for the past few weeks. The sleep time on the dashboard doesn't match the sleep time on the sleep screen. Sleep screen today shows 8 hrs 5 minutes, dashboard says 7 hrs 48 minutes. And I've had times where the sleep time suddenly changes in the middle of the day. A couple of weeks ago my sleep time went from 7 hrs and xxx minutes to 11+ hrs for no reason. What changed?
  • Today I corrected my sleep time and re-synced, as usual. And, oh wonder, this time GC kept my changes. Can anyone confirm or is it just a one-time coincidence?
  • Seems to be OK for me too.
  • Yes its working for me now...but I'm now not able to input weight now?
    and calories change after edit.....

more screenshots to send off lol......
