Laptop- problem connecting edge as usb gevice.

If I connect to the main pc it picks up my edge 1030 no problem, if I connect to the laptop it either doesn't see it or takes @10 minutes to access it. The only thing I can think of is that the pc runs win 10 32 bit while my lappy runs the same Os but the x64 version. Am I right about this?
