Garmin Connect removing body metric data (nothing to do with My Fitness Pal)

I'm creating a new thread since this has NOTHING to do with My Fitness Pal. I've never even tried MFP let alone connected it with Garmin.

For me, as an example, I did a scale reading last Saturday and uploaded the scale reading data with body metrics just fine. On Sunday I get a false weight reading and at that point the Saturday body metrics are wiped out. This has been going on for months for me and looks like over a year now for some. Somehow Garmin Connect or Garmin Mobile is creating extra FALSE weight readings with no metrics and somehow it also wipes out the real reading with metrics.

Garmin has to know this is going on. I know 4 people having the exact same problem. They don't use MFP at all but all body metric readings are erased on Garmin Connect. In the past week I weighed myself on Saturday with metrics and since then I have a weight reading everyday in Connect (even though I haven't weighed myself since Saturday) all ALL the readings have lost the body metric data.

Come on Garmin...fix the problem!
  • It's a known issue, but unfortunately Garmin shows little or no interest in actually doing anything to fix it. (They are acknowledging the issue, however they seem incapable of doing anything about it or providing any useful information)

Have you had a look at this thread? I know many are talking about the link to MFP, however there's lots of people in the thread confirming they have the issue despite no link to MFP.
  • One of the big things you can do is be accountable and that means weigh yourself every morning 7 days a week your true weight will be an average over a period of time, if you weigh every day GC will not fill in a weight from the previous day at least that's how it works for me. So if you have more days weights and only a couple that's filled in it wont make that much difference over the 7 day average, but if its reversed and you only have a couple of true weights and all the rest are filled in the yes, it could skew your numbers but that wouldn't be an accurate weight anyway. IMHO

Here's how it work's in my scenario if I take a weight with my FR 935 and Fenix 5X both active upon my first sync the body metrics are wiped out, if I miss a days weight GC will insert the previous days weight

If I am wearing my Fenix 5X with my FR 935 powered off all of my metrics are saved regardless of MFP so for me it tied to GC and the FR 935, if I miss a day GC will insert the previous days weight.

I know Garmin is aware of this issue and trying to come up with a fix for all, I am on an open ticket and provided details of my issues and also provided the Garmin folder from my FR 935 device and have actually gotten reply's back from the team.

Thanks, yes I have seen that thread and that's why I created this one...this problem has absolutely nothing to do with MFP. Garmin and everyone should know that anyone suggesting remove MFP is wasting their time. I've never even used MFP and have this problem.

It's a false data point and shouldn't be inserted. Either way it's removing the body metrics data which is the real problem.
  • Which I am sure is being addressed based on my interaction with Garmin, have you contacted them and given them your specifics so they can add you to the open case?

This has been an open issue for a year so I'm not confident and yes I have an open ticket.
  • Regarding MyFitnessPal, yes it is absolutely a distraction and a red-herring. Sadly, I think there may be something in the support agents’ script about it. If you look at the recent posts in that thread, you’ll see conclusive evidence that MFP is not the cause. Good that you have started this thread. Let’s just ensure that people are aware of both.

  • Though I did remove my link to Myfitnesspal this week and lo, the next day and subsequently,
I have all my data back

    Hi Everyone,

We apologize for the frustration with your weigh-ins over the last few weeks. We’ve pushed some backend Garmin Connect changes overnight that should resolve your Index weight measurements from being replaced by weight data uploaded via MyFitnessPal and other Garmin wearables. We have a few other planned improvements to ensure you can easily access the data captured by your Index Smart Scale that will be made soon.

Please let us know if you continue to see issues with your weigh-ins.

    Thanks,

    Garmin Product Support
