Two watches, combining steps etc

i currently have a second hand Vivoactive HR watch which is great! I wear it all the time, even at work as an engineer. So it gets covered in dirt etc.

im thinking of upgrading to the 735XT for Tri training and wearing outside of work.
will both combine the amount of steps I've done in a day via the Garmin Connect App? Or will one Watch say 0 steps even though the other may say 5000?
  • There's a mechanism called "TrueUp" which does exactly that. You define which of the devices is your primary activity tracker, and every time you sync your devices, the Garmin Connect platform combines steps from both devices and resends the result to both of them.

That's the theory at least. I never tried it myself.

Thank you, looks like I better start looking around then
  • True up works however there are some limitations. If you wear your VAHR for just a few minutes and then switch to the 735XT, TrueUp uses the higher number between the 2 devices for a time range and it is possible that the VAHR steps aren't counted if the 735XT has more steps in the time span that Connect counts. It does that because you may choose to wear both devices at the same time for whatever reason.

That being said, I don't know what that time-span is. All I know is I had that happen to me. I only lost 75 steps that time but I did lose them.
