Cycling speed at any point?

I can't figure out how to see what my cycling speed is at any point in a Garmin recorded activity. I can view the segment I'm after and get the elapsed time, elevation, etc. but not speed. When I try various things sometimes it tells me I don't have those privileges - I am logged in bc I can see my name in the upper right corner. Is there a Garmin CONNECT Premium?? TIA, Allan
  • I don't ride, but I'd imagine you can do the same for speed for a cycling activity record as I've done for pace for a running activity record, shown in the screen capture of my browser below? Just hover your mouse pointer over any point on the track:

  • Just drag the cursor to the point on the map you want to see the speed for and look on the speed graph

The solutions posted work for a complete activity but not when in segment view. I have become totally frustrated with Garmin's segment analysis and decided that the best solution if you want to use segments is to link your Garmin data to Strava. I am sure that Garmin have facilitated data transfer as they recognise the limitations of their segment software and so have taken a welcome and pragmatic decision to use Strava to work round the problem.
  • mickw46 : A segment view is just one view of a Garmin recorded activity (in the words of the O.P.), and there is no need to be in segment view when the objective is to see the speed (or pace) at any point in that activity.

Anyway, in case you're talking about the Segments tab for reviewing an individual activity, the method mentioned above still works to show the instantaneous pace or speed at a given point:

ASmugDill - I agree entirely with what you have said but I understood (perhaps incorrectly) from the original post that the question referred specifically to looking at a specific segment: Quote "I can view the segment I'm after and get the elapsed time, elevation, etc. but not speed." Unquote. If my understanding is correct, then my answer stands but you have (more usefully) provided an alternative route to view the information required.
