Forerunner 935 NOT Pairing

I have searched the forum and Googled. I have read everything I could, but have not been able to find a solution to my problem. I have had my 935 about 6 months. For the past month it will not pair with my iPad or iPhone. I have rebooted my 935, reinstalled my Garmin connect and have gotten new devices, but when I click on pair, it will not pair. Is the problem the 935? All the posts on this forum I read, no one had an answer, so I thought I’d open up a new thread. And it doesn’t seem like Garmin is giving any answers. Thanks for any help out there.
  • HI - Did you get a resolution to this issue. I've just received a 935 and it'll connect via Bluetooth so I receive notification on the iPhone (7) but I can not pair it. Always fails.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled everything. Added removed from Bluetooth devices and still wont' pair.
I paired in successfully to another iPhone, but for some reason it won't pair with this one.

In the same boat as you, new iphone XS that simply refuses to pair with GC though it does work fine for notifications (email etc). I have literally tried 100 different tricks and NOTHING works. I occasionally get the prompt to enter the 6 digit pairing code, and occasionally the watch even provides one, but at best the progress bar in GC makes it to 50% the I get the "Pairing Failed" bullshit. Truly a horrible product when they can't manage a foolproof solution for the most common mobile phone on the planet. GC works fine every time on my Android but I don't consider this an Apple problem, it's Garmin's incompetent developer teams and utter lack of regard for customer service that drives this problem.

Another note, I tried connecting via my daughter's older iPhone SE and no difference, "Pairing Failed" over and over...

    Good luck anyway!
  • Try this sequence: Check the device is removed from GCM - if it's not remove it.
    Close GCM
    Uninstall GCM
'Forget' the 935 in the Bluetooth settings on the iPhone.
Reboot the iPhone - that's not simply a Power off. There are specific instructions to reboot that involve holding a button until the Apple logo appears before releasing it. Check the specifics for your iPhone.
    Reinstall GCM
    Shutdown/Restart the iPhone
Open GCM and pair the 935.

FWIW, in our house we have 2 x 935s paired to 2 x iPhone Xs without any issues. As much as this might hurt, unless there really is a problem with the device/iPhone, the problem is often user related.

If the problem persists, contact Garmin Support via the tab at the top of this page.

Does anyone solve this issue. I can connect the bluetooth and received any message to watch, but unable to pair by Garmin Mobile Connect. Is this known issue?

  • You should not connect the watch by BT to the phone before pairing through Garmin Connect! Remove the BT connection from the phone, and the try pairing from within Garmin Connect again. If it does not work, follow the instructions from the previous post.
