Indoor Rowing - Can't add distance on mobile app?

I've only had my Vivoactive 3 for a few weeks so am still trying to figure out a few things. In the beginning, when I did an indoor rowing session, I could go into the Garmin Connect app on my mobile, edit the activity and add in the distance the indoor rower said.

However, that functionality is now greyed out. When I go into the activity on my phone, the "distance" option is greyed out and you can't edit it. I can go into Garmin connect on my desktop and edit it there so I'm unsure why this has been removed as a function on the phone, it's a bit tedious?

I used to do the same thing, basically inputing the power and distance data from my rowers computer into GC. Now I'm experiencing the same grayed out non editable distance field after the GC update a little while ago. Annoying!
  • Is this a Concept2 rower with a PM5 computer? In that case you can wirelessly connect your phone to the PM5 and sync your rowing session to your logbook at concept2.com. From there you can download a .fit file which you can import into Garmin Connect. This will give you detailed data for power, speed, distance, heart rate (if you had a HRM belt connected to the PM5 during the workout), strokes per minute, etc.

I hope they will come around and enable automatic sync with between Garmin Connect and the Concept 2 logbook. Right now I can automatically sync both to my Trainingpeaks test account, but I can't sync between them.

In my case and I'm guessing OrangeBabelfish's too, it's not a Concept2 (which btw has its own app in Garmins store), we're using the "Row Indoor" app/activity on our watches that will count strokes, time, and all that, but not distance or power obviously.

I know. And I have seen the developer's own description of how unstable it is. So I have not dared using it.

So yes, it is a Concept 2 indoor rower, and the distance is now greyed out on the app but still there on the desktop. It's just annoying that an update *takes away* functionality instead of adding it - I don't really want to go and add more apps to sync as it just becomes a mess. Surely an update should be an improvement not a step backwards :(
