.TCX file format issue for manual import from ifit.com (Nordictrack Elliptical)

Hey all. Anyone do any manual .TCX importing from ifit.com (via a Nordictrack Elliptical machine) into Garmin Connect? When I try to upload the file that says it is a .TCX file it barfs and says that Garmin does not recognize the file format. I’ve attached an image to show it. It also adds a second extension to the file once it uploads of .xml which is odd and over my head. Could that be it? I’ve used ifit and Nordictrack for years but just got my Fenix 5X which I LOVE but I want to import the real data from ifit if I can.

What’s more, I’ve successfully imported GCX files from Gaia just fine and that seems to work. So I know I can import things fine. I guess this is an ifit.com issue? Also, I’m doing all of this via an iPad Safari browser and GCX worked fine but not the above TCX. So it shouldn’t matter but maybe I should try other PCs or browsers? Has anyone done this before?

Thanks for reading! ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1291034.png

Thanks to Garmin support for reaching out to me on this. For those who have the same problem, it ended up, being an issue on iFit’s side. After you download the TCX (which is really an XML) from the iFit site, you have to go to a third party site (google it) to convert that file to an actual TCX for importing to Garmin Connect. Bummer, but that is what we found. Basically works now.

Can you please give the link of that site, please? I tried to google it but I couldn't find anything. Thank you.

Does this link still work? I have a Mac, and I get a blank page.
  • The ifittotcxconverter site no longer works. The tool they had created also no longer works (some sort of error).

The best I have come up with is downloading the gpx file, creating a tcx file (using a tool called tcx converter) and importing that into Garmin manually, however the time (length of activity time) is always wrong (plus a few other problems). I plan on trying to sort this all out today as it's driving me a little nutty.

I was hoping there was some other suggestions :)
  • I know how to fix this, if you are still having the problem... it's pretty easy and you don't need to convert anything.  Let me know if interested and I can detail the solution for you.

fundai do you still have a solution for the TCX import issue

    • Yes. So long as we are talking about the same issue the original post by OldManY0da describes (using MacOS and having the dual file extension issue xxx.TCX.XML).  Is this the problem you are having?
  • I am having the same issue...would love to hear your simple fix please!

I have the same issue. I download the tcx file from ifit and import it to Garmin connect, but the distances are not included. Is there a solution? Which software or online tool do you use?
