Chinese character support in notification is badly wanted in VA3

I searched across the topics, and found out the similar requests are prevalent - Garmin should provide a mean to download Chinese characters to its smart watches.
  • It wouldn't be a problem if you bought the model that meets your (language) requirements from retailers in the appropriate market, even if it would have limited your options somewhat in terms of getting better pricing, and perhaps placed a heavier requirement on you to do due diligence prior to purchasing.
  • I think what ASmugDill is saying is that there might well be separate versions of the VA3 to cater for the Asian market specifically. Certainly, this is the case for the 935 and F5. SImply put, if there are separate versions then you need to buy the Asia Pacific version which has the character based languages built-in...I believe.

    Have a read of this . https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/health-fitness/vivosmart-hr-hr/134330-
  • I think what ASmugDill is …

… if a customer or user requires Bluetooth notifications with Chinese content to be displayed on his/her fitness wearable and/or ‘smart-watch’ device, then he/she should confirm that is supported before deciding on and proceeding with the purchase of a particular model of device. When will Joe Consumer learn he/she does not dictate the business model to manufacturers and retailers in the consumer IT market, but must only choose (carefully) and take from what is on offer?

Edit: Merry Christmas to Joe Consumer anyway.

Edit: philipshambrook, I just noticed the tooltip over your ‘reputation’ bar now says. “has much to be proud of”. I think that is certainly true! :)
  • There is a ROW (Rest Of World) as well as an APAC (Asian-Pacific) version of the va3. The ROW part number is 006-B2700-00 and the APAC part number is 006-B2976-00

Thanks for the replies, I understood the current constraints, while I personally still feel Garmin should provide a mean to download Chinese characters or other in need to its smart watches. Binding character sets to HW isn't something should be called SMART.

Neither is making purchasing decisions without performing adequate due diligence to know what one is getting (and what he/she isn't).
