I recently updated my Garmin Nuvi 2455 with the latest updates - Software v. 8.30, Map: Full Coverage of North America 2018.30.
Ever since I updated, the device has been giving me endless problems, as follows:
If the device is plugged in when I start my vehicle, it appears to boot up as it should, but then it "can't find" any locations, and only shows the latest 2 or 3 locations in my location history list, instead of the full list that you should see.
To make it work, here's what I have to do:
1) Unplug the unit.
2) Wait 15 seconds for it to turn off.
3) Hold down the power button for an extremely long time until the Garmin logo comes up.
4) Wait a few seconds, then the unit pops up a message saying that it will restart in a few seconds to reload maps.
5) It never restarts. It just turns off.
6) Hold down the power button for an extremely long time *again* until the logo comes up.
7) After two or three iterations of this, the unit finally boots up properly and I am able to use it.
At this point I plug it in again, and it's fine. However, when I turn my vehicle off, this whole process starts over. The only way to prevent this is to unplug the unit and tell it not to turn off, prior to turning off my vehicle. Then, I have to wait until after my vehicle is running again before I plug the unit back in.
