What does "elapsed time" actually mean?

I thought it was self-evident but I have noticed recently that at least for some tracks, "elapsed time" is well short of "end time" - "start time". Auto-pause is turned on, which affects "time" as expected but the activity is never stopped.

Nah not that big a deal, there are other functions I would much rather have streamlined such as records by sport i.e. 20k road run record separate to 21k trail (same with road cycling and MTB).  But have asked for that long ago and got the finger. hehe

Thanks for responding though, much appreciated.

Not exactly what you want, but if you often ride or run in the same location (i.e. around your home), create a Segment for each of your desired record disciplines, and make then your PR attempts on those segments. You will then have a ranked table (Leaderboard) with all your historical achievements on each respective segment. I use it a lot.
