Syncing with Garmin Edge 820 automatic, Fenix 5s not - how to fix?

Hi all

When I finish my bike rides and hit "save" on my Garmin Edge 820, the device automatically uploads the ride to Garmin Connect and subsequently Strava.

When I finish my runs, I do the same on my Garmin Fenix 5s, however, I have to manually sync the watch in Garmin Connect so that the run uploads the data.

How do I enable the same behavior on the Fenix 5s to auto upload?

There's a setting in Garmin Connect Mobile for my Fenix3, which says "Auto upload" which can be togged on or off.
If you in Garmin Connect Mobile press the menu bar (three lines), go to Garmin Devices, and select your Fenix 5 - what does it say under Device Settings - is there an Auto Upload option and what's the value?

I went to that menu and only see:
Activity Trcking
Do not Disturb
Audio prompts
phone notifications
Tones
move alert
wrist heart rate
System
Preferred Activity tracker

Under system I only see:
time format
FIrst day of the week
language
Distance

I have the latest Garmin Connect Mobile on iOS using iPhone 7. any other ideas?

Couldn't find a setting on the watch itself either other than auto-upload but that's when on Wifi (I have the Fenix 5s Wifi version)

This the behaviour I see too with my Edge 520 and the various wearables I have used with my iPhone. The only solution is to leave Garmin Connect Mobile running in the background.
