Incorrect or missing elevation data

I need help. I noticed that my last few outdoor rides that my elevation was incorrect in Garmin Connect. Despite the same start and end point, the starting elevation would be significantly higher than the end or worse yet, there would be no elevation data at all. I have assumed that it was an issue with the Garmin Edge 820. I've rebooted it but haven't had an opportunity to go out and test it yet. Last night I noticed that the data from my Zwift indoor ride also did not have any elevation data despite the fact that Zwift has recorded elevation data and pushed it successfully to Strava, Training Peaks, and MapMyRide. Nothing else appears incorrect. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Thank you in advance.
  • I have a similar issue after going on a ride a few days ago and a run this morning Garmin Connect shows a flat line instead of the elevation profile and remarkably an elevation of -500m! I looked at my Fenix 3 and it did show an elevation of -500m so I've reset that to a correct elevation and turned off Auto Cal. I'll see how this works over the next few days.
