Distress Alerts

Any smart runner carries some form of ID in case the unthinkable happens and we are injured and cannot speak or identify ourselves verbally. Another way to deal with our safety more proactively could be the addition of a distress button of sorts. It could work through a wearable connected to Garmin Connect or through Garmin Connect itself. My idea is to add a feature where you hit a button and a preset list of contacts are notified via SMS/Email that include either a preset message, or one typed at the button push, and your GPS location. Since texting emergency services like 911 in the US are becoming more available, the option to send this information to those emergency services could also be an option.
