Getting acitivity data locally, i.e. without using cloud-server / garmin connect

Until recently I used the ANT agent to get tcx-activity-files of my workouts locally to my PC w/o cloud services or internet, where I could analyze them with my own software.
This route to get the data seems to be not longer supported and stopped working. I feel forced to use Garmin Express with Garmin Connect to get to the data.
Since I like to keep this personal data out of the cloud (and I am not always connected to internet), is there any way to get the tcx-files (or native fit-files) w/o cloud services from my Forerunner watch?

  • Assuming your watch allows only ANT+ syncing, you have the following options:

    1. Upload data to Garmin Connect via Garmin Express and then export the original FIT files for local storage.
    2. Use antpm software on Linux OS.
    3. Try to fix your ANT Agent+GTC setup. I don't know why yours doesn't work. I have Garmin ANT Agent with Garmin Training Center on Windows 8.1, and it still works with my old FR310XT, although indeed it is not officially supported any more.
