It does look like since the beginning of october wifi connection of both my edge 820 and edge 1030 reset the language to English. Both are setup in French and they keep coming back to English after a wifi connection to Garmin Connect. I am working on a Mac (Sierra) and iPhone IOS 11, GC and GCM are both setup in french.
