Garmin Connect not recording barometric data from my fenix 5s

Recently GC just calculates elevation from gps data and loses the altimeter data. I think it was after the latest FW update, but not completely sure. All I know is that elevation correction defaults to 'on' and even if I change it to 'off' GC still just shows gps elevation. Even Strava and the old standalone training center shows correct barometric elevation, but NOT GC.
  • On my Garmin connect activity from 23 September is the last with Elev. Corrections Disabled (watch FW: 5.84). Next activity on 24 September has Elevation corrections Enabled (watch FW: 5.84). fenix 5.
  • Very annoying. Someone wrote that Garmin never corrected this problem on many watches. It's a serial number issue.
  • I am not sure, as I have my Fenix since May, and until now it was ok.
Garmin support suggested to restore defaults, I, however, don't want to lose all my settings.
Furthermore, it is not clear, whether it is Fenix od Garmin Connect bug.
Are you able to distinguish whether the graph is from barometer or gps? I believe the graph on garmin connect mobile is ok (barometer based)
  • I'm positive the graph is gps data even when I disabled elevation correction. I did an experiment where I rode a 5 meter underpass 6 times while recording with my Edge 520 and Fenix 5s. The graph was perfect from the 520, but very flat from the F5. When I disabled elev correction, the elevation data was corrected, but the graph didn't change. I used the old Garmin Training Center software and it still showed the gps data. HOWEVER Strava uses the original data and it was CORRECT!!! So it's just Garmin Connect that doesn't want to display the barometric data in the graphs.

When I first got my F5, the graphs were good, but a month or so ago, it changed.
  • I reset my F5 to defaults, and reconnected it to my mobile - the problem persists.
karlw2000 what about the graph in garmin connect mobile? is it ok?
Do you think it is Fenix 5 problem? I can see friends having Fenix 3 and 920XT and their elevation is correct...
  • I still get only gps graphs. I honestly believe it's a Garmin Connect problem (both mobile and online). It seems GC is applying elevation correction on some F5's and not others. Mine used to work when I first got it. Now it always shows elevation correction and even when I disable it, the graph stays the same.

Fortunately I don't care that much because I'm more concerned with elevation when I ride my bike and then I always use my Edge computers for that. Also Strava always uses the barometric data.
