735xt Stopped Sleep Tracking

Hi all

I recently bought a 735xt. It?s great in a lot of ways, but it?s been buggy (this isn?t my first post here, ha.).

The sleep tracking feature, for instance, just stopped working. I didn?t materially change the settings of the watch or my Garmin Connect app, but sleep tracking is just gone. It won?t populate in my activity tracking.

Could somebody give me some advice on why this might have happened, and how to fix it? I like this watch, but it was expensive...I expect it to work.

Thanks!
  • First a question to get the obvious out of the way: Do you wear your watch while sleeping?

You said it stopped working. Does it mean that it worked before? For how long? And when (how long ago) did it stop working?

An important thing to understand is that sleep analysis is actually not done by the watch, but by Garmin Connect after syncing the watch. Sometimes data transfered from the watch is not meaningful enough to make a distinction between sleep and wakefulness. In such cases sleep data may be blank. For example I remember one episode when I was quite ill and I remained in my bed for the whole day (but not sleeping) and was quite sleepless during the night (kept turning in bed, went to the toilet several times), and I miss sleep data for that period, too, because I believe Garmin Connect could not find any pattern in my movement that would allow to tell when I was sleeping or not.

Another challenge would be if you have irregular sleeping hours. Daytime naps won't be detected either.

Yes, I wear the watch while sleeping.

Ok, that's helpful context. And the watch has begun tracking my sleep again. Thanks.
