We working on a resolution for this with Edge devices and compatible wearables.
I own an Edge 830 and just got also the new Fenix 6.
It's very annoying that Garmin connect does not know to sync the information between the devices.
Horrible
+1 for this issue, this is the only reason I don’t buy a new fenix 6 yet. Please fix it Garmin! Thanks!
I definitely have. Ticket raised in December, monthly chase emails. “We are working on it” response 7 times in four months with no actual details on what they are doing to fix it.
I am going down the “failure to provide services as advertised” route since this is and advertised capability and it does not work. That constitutes a deliberate miss selling of goods with a know defect.
Hi,
I use a Forerunner 935 and an Edge 830. I find it very odd that the training load from the Edge is converted by Garmin Connect to a lower value for the Forerunner. For example, one ride recorded with the Edge had a training load of 163, but Connect converted this to a load of 135 for the Forerunner. I sometimes have different training statuses for the two devices, and if Connect is slow to fully update, I have even had a third status different to the two devices. I raised the issue June 2019. Garmin finally seemed to have accepted this is odd, but still no progress on a fix.
Garmin guys, why do you ignore us? can we get a decent update and ETA for the resolution?
Most of the time, the load from activities recorded on my edge syncs to my forerunner and the training status on the forerunner is ok. However, this is not always the case and can skew the overall training status. On the contrary, the training status on my edge is almost always out of sync. I assume this is related to a less frequent synchronisation from my edge.
Please Garmin merge the training status. No one want to split his/her activities by device!
PS: Multi sports load is still not summed up correctly.
So after testing this extensively the last few days on a Fenix6xPro and a Edge530
The more I sync the better it seems to work...
After manually syncing the devices (additionally to the automatic syncs happening from time to time)
both devices show the same training status, focus and load.
Garmin Connect (on my phone and on the web) on the other side does not show the same values...
It would be nice to have a official statement about how it actually should work, so one can at least adjust the expectations...
For some different training status for different sport-types/categories might be the proper way... for others a merged value would be nice...
I have the same issue with a Fenix 5x and an Edge 530, both showing different exercise loads. I bought the Edge 530 so that it would total up the exercise load over 2 devices, I will be phoning Garmin tomorrow. Not a happy customer at all.
Hi,
I have a Forerunner 935 and an 830. I have the same issues. I complained to Garmin about this June 2019. They finally acknowledged it as an issue , but as yet have not sorted out the problem. I find it very odd that when I do an activity with the Edge the numbers do not transfer correctly into Connect for the Forerunner. So, for example, a ride recorded on the Edge had a load of 163 which was correctly transferred to the Edge section of Connect, but the ride was counted as being worth only 135 load in the Forerunner section.
I think that is the secret "the more I sync the better it seems to work". I make sure I sync my 1030 to my phone, and watch to my phone before any activity. Then sync both again at the end - usually twice.
It is a huge PITA; and to be honest very sub-standard.
Even with all the sync'ing I have different recovery times on each device.
Ironically, all you have to do is link your Fenix and Edge devices to Strava. Strava's Fitness and Freshness widget will combine all of your activities from all of your devices to give you an overall score. However, Strava does not feed this combined data back down to each device, so they are still not 'talking' to each other. My Fenix (used for running) tells me I am woefully unfit in cycling while decently fit in running, and the Edge (used for cycling) tells me the opposite. Meanwhile, we continue to wait for Garmin to address this for literally years. Surely it can't be that hard? Why are you penalizing loyal customers who have bought more than one very expensive Garmin product?
That's true. Actually the whole thing is syncing both your Edge and Fenix before and after each activity. See my post here. I have managed to make them work together.
Also, remember to enable PhysioTrueUp in GCM - Devices - General. It seems it's not enabled by default.
