Normally I do not report any errors but this time is too long. Garmin workout when opened activity through the website only shows blank pages using Mozilla Firefox 55.0.3 (32-bit) and Chrome Version 61.0.3163.79 (Official Build) (64-bit). It's been several days. Please help.

  • Can't stress enough. Call Garmin product support. This is not a universal problem so they need to troubleshoot the issue with your PC and your account. That can't be done via this thread.

I disagree. I actually think that with the growing number of people posting in this thread - some of whom clearly have some IT expertise - it's possible to work out common denominators and to rule out 'standard,' fixes. For example - everyone posting has cleared their browser cache. Most have tried the most common browsers. In fact of the list of suggestions Garmin Support emailed to me (some 5 days after I'd posted, which objectively isn't long but felt frustratingly slow) most were things people on this forum had already suggested. Some people have even found and shared temporary workarounds (using the ancient version of IE made a real difference - as otherwise I wouldn't have been able to load a GPX for a long, not very well marked race I did this weekend.)

I actually think that if Garmin Support engaged directly with the forums, reaching out to a clearly receptive audience who are willing to collate in one place their experiences and post up specifics (for example the browser build number for the browsers they'd tried) they'd find a ready pool of volunteers. It might also alleviate the, 'it's not us, it's you,' attitude that I know several other users felt - not helped by those Garmin users who weren't affected suggesting it's an individual or account problem.

FWIW, my uneducated guess would be that some sort of security update rolled out to the major browsers which rendered it incompatible with the GC website. Hence why the old IE would work but the modern, big players wouldn't. But that's just guesswork on my part. I'd love to see Garmin come out and actually say what the issue was, but I suspect if it is security related or to do with an issue at Garmin's end (which - given that most affected are just using major browsers, with normal settings - seems likely) then couple that to the corporate pathological aversion to ever admitting any fault means I'd be surprised if that happened.

I'd just like to point out that for me at least - having changed nothing with my account, browsers, firewall or anything else i.e. settings are (as best I know) the same as they were when a) Garmin Connect was loading correctly, then b) it wasn't - everything is now loading as normal in Firefox/Chrome.

Is everyone else back to normal?
  • I'm not - I've gotten used to pressing Ctrl+F5 to refresh my dashboard (I'm basically just using FireFox) where I have a widget showing my latest workout. Sometimes it shows up, but quite frequently I have to go to another view (activities, calendar, etc.) in order to get hold of my latest activity in order to be able to edit and comment upon it.
  • Mine still seems to be working. Garmin Support have now sent me an e-mail in which they say "The issue you are referring to is something that we are aware of and are working hard towards a resolution, however, we do not have a timeframe for this to be completed as yet." which is a step forward, IMHO.
  • Has anyone found a workaround to this? I've been having this issue where I can't see certain pages within garmin connect for a few weeks now, and Garmin Support has not been helpful at all.

I've refreshed the page, cleared my cache, disabled all browser extensions, tried on my windows laptop, iPhone, Kindle, and a Mac. I also created a brand new dummy account, but even still I was getting blank pages.
  • I too have been having this same issue for a few months now, but ONLY in Firefox (even with ad blockers and popup blockers turned off). I get the site to load just fine in Chrome or IE. I've tried the f5 refresh, clearing cache, etc with no luck.

I've been reading around trying to figure this out. I've seen a lot of references to Java, and that Firefox no longer supports it. Does the Connect site use Java to display all the different modules? I know Firefox has updated several times in the past few weeks, and Java has also updated on my computer. And since it still displays correctly on Chrome and IE, I'm guessing that they still support java. This is all speculation on my part, and welcome anyone who knows more to expand on this.

It is very frustrating that I can't use my primary browser to access a page I've been using for years.
  • Lonewolf147 a couple of other people have mentioned an issue with Firefox.

For some people, disabling/removing the "McAfee Web Advisor" add-on seemed to do the trick.

If that doesn't work, try re-launching Firefox in Safe Mode: Menu > Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled. If that works, then you have some other addon which is interfering with Garmin Connect.

WebAdvisor was the culprit! Sweet! Thanks for the idea to try it.

Hi, I just wanted to add that disabling uBlock (ad blocker) on Mac Safari fixed this problem for me. Cheers.
