Training Workout Repeats

I'm trying to figure out how to develop a Run repeat Workout, in the Training Section, that will allow for the removal of the last Recovery section. Example... 4x1x800 repeats, I want to have the workout show Run 1mi, Recovery 1/2mi. Meaning repeat the 1mi x4 and the 1/2mi Recovery x3. I don't want the 4th recovery to show as I'll be running a cool down after the last 1mi run and don't need an extra 1/2mi Recovery before the Cool Down. Thanks!!! ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1236259.png
  • Try this:
    1. Warm up 2 miles
    2. Run 2 miles
    3. Repeat 2 times
    3a. Recover 0.5 miles
    3b. Run 2 miles.
    4. Cool down 2 miles

The other option is to simply change the last step in your workout to Cool Down 1.5 miles.
  • A related question with creating workouts...

I created my first track-run workout (for the FR235-but I don't think that matters) and did not go according to plan. I wanted to do 2x1600meters, 2x800meters with an 'unstructured' rest in between - basically I just walk approx 200m to my next repeat. Again all on a 400m track.

    I created the following;
    Warmup - Run 1-mile
    Run - Distance 1600m
    Recovery - Distance 200m
    Run - Distance 1600m
    Recovery - Distance 200m
    Run - Distance 800m
    Recovery - Distance 200m
    Run - Distance 800m
    Recovery - Distance 200m
    Cooldown - Run - 1-mile

This did not work as planned, because it automatically recorded the time after 1600m, --whether I finished at the start/stop line or not-- and started the next segment. This created chaos, as I wasn't ready or finished with the previous step.
So, I modified the workout to include only the run segments (removing the recoveries) and instead of the duration being 'run', I now have it set to 'Lap Button Press'.

I assume that this should work, won't be able to try it until the weekend. Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

Yea, this is what I've been doing to get around the issue. I was just trying to figure out if I was missing way to remove a part of the repeat. It looks like this should be a new feature for the software.

    Thanks, dcp

Mario, I think your in the same boat as me, there doesn't look to be a granular way to modify the repeats and it won't stop recording until the workout is completed. Since you're on a track, it would be easier for you to use the lap button command when you arrive at the location on the track you want to start and stop the timer.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, as this is strictly a track workout, I think the best thing to do is have a few workouts created using only the 'Lap Button Press' feature (e.g., 5 repeats, 6 repeats, etc) and just use the one that accommodates my workout for that day. Whether it is 6x800m or 2x1600m, 2x800m, 2x200m, it wouldn't really matter, as long as I use the lap button to start, stop each one.

    Happy trails!
