Editing Multisport activity category

I recently did a triathlon with my 310XT using the Multisport mode. It recorded the activity properly, however the Swim comes us as "Other" which is not unknown with the 310XT. When I am trying to edit the "Other" to the proper category of swimming, I get an error message saying "Error! An error occurred saving the activity." Any idea what's going on here?
  • I have done this several times with triathlons registered with my FR310XT and it always succeeded. However the error message you're quoting I've got on several occasions when editing other activities. It was always temporary, i.e. it went away when I tried later. To me it just looked like a temporary server problem with Garmin Connect.
  • One more thing: Are you trying to set it to "Swimming" or "Open water swimming"? I always did the latter.

I tried Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Lap Swimming, even tried other activities just to see if it would save. Nothing has worked yet.

This appears to be more than just a temporary server issue. There seems to be something inherently bugged with this.

    Hello Jvbazza,
The file could be corrupted. If you attach the original TCX file from your 310 to another post here, someone will try to fix it.

I have just completed my first Olympic Triathlon (London) after a couple of years of doing sprint, and my Chronos recorded the event but it appears the FIT file is corrupt and i'm not sure how to fix it. Normal I wouldn't care but seeing as this is my first and I had two Personal Bests (PBs) I wondered whether the file could be fixed. If anyone know a way or can fix it that would be amazing. I've tried the normal online tools but to no avail. Fingers crossed someone takes pity on me. Thanks in advance,

I have also been having this problem. I can not say that I know the fix but I did find a workaround that worked for me. I clicked on each piece of the the multisport entry and exported the parts of the multisport as GPX files (this is found by clicking on the little gear in the upper right) and the re-imported these pieces and deleted the original. I could then edit each of the pieces. This means that each piece is separate but at least each part is correctly labeled.
