Calendar Activities not in Correct Sequence

Can people please confirm, on the Calendar view in Garmin Connect, do your activities appear in the correct chronological sequence as mine do not. For example, my walk on Sunday morning is shown below my ride from Sunday afternoon.

I have reported this to Garmin, but they don't seem to understand why the calendar should show items in chronological sequence. Its quite frustrating when trying to review your data!
  • yep I can confirm, see attached when done the watery lane rides are the the last ride of the day and as can be seen on 4th & 5th they are in different spots

  • I have tried to work out what ordering is being used, it does seem like its ordering it by activity type (cycling before running and running before fitness equipment that I have seen) and then distance. Not very helpful. Previous GC release worked perfectly. The response from Garmin has been less than encouraging:

"I have forwarded your email to the design team as they are always interested in customer feedback. Many of the comments/suggestions we receive (such as yours) are often evaluated towards potential implementation into future Garmin products or current unit software releases. We cannot guarantee that what you have suggested will be implemented, however we do appreciate you passing along your opinions."

I cant seem to get them to understand that this is a bug, not sure why as its not complicated! I accept that bugs happen (and there has been a load in GC 3.19) but Garmin need to acknowledge that they are going to fix them.

Just checked the week view too, I am always missing entries on a Sunday.

I'm not sure there is any methodology, as if you look at the files i posted above, all my activities are cycling and it puts the same basic activities in different order on different days

  • Uh, if the list of activities is presented in an order that contradicts a specified order, then it would be a bug.

If the user has not been invited to specify a preferred order, and Garmin has not published a statement as to in which order the activities will be listed, then how can it be a bug? Something changed, and you're disappointed with the result, but that doesn't make it a software defect/bug (irrespective of whether the change was intended).

There is always room to disappoint, frustrate, surprise or irritate users without that trigger of negative emotion necessarily being a bug.

And it does. By definition a calendar is time ordered. Just look at how Outlook (other calendar programs are also available) display appointments. Its time ordered.
  • Not according to the Oxford English Dictionaries. How other software applications work do not constitute a de facto technical standard with which every similar application must comply.
  • By that argument there is nothing saying that Wednesday must come before Friday on a calendar either.
