garmin vivoactive hr notification help needed

Im getting notifications on my vivoactive hr but no TEXT .I have tried my vivoactive hr on my sons iphone and it is working fine on that.Any help would be greatly appreciated

I had this problem on my new vivoactive 3 too.
I would get an alert on my vivoactive 3 that said "new message" but had no details on who it was from or the actual message.

The connection between the phone and watch was good or I would not be getting any text alert at all.

The problem is in a phone setting.

In my phone messaging app I had to change the settings to allow text message preview. When I get a text now a preview window shows up on my phone screen. It also now shows the name of the person and the full text message on my vivoactive 3.

I hope this helps someone.
I was very frustrated until I got this figured out.
