Add option to merge activities

I sometimes stop an activity and resume the same activity later. For example, I do 15 miles cycling then take a break and cycle for 15 more miles. I'd like to be able to merge both activities in GC or on my Chronos itself.
  • Have you tried using the Resume later option? One click up on the save menu at the end of an activity.

It is not ideal but it mostly works. For example:
    - GC on the timeline, there is no green bar under the resumed part of the activity
    - Sometimes the sensors don't all come on stream after resuming

Also from a philosophical training perspective, it doesn't make sense to resume an activity later. If the break is of a fixed known length and you always have the same length break then you can compare activities. Otherwise it is just random data. If you stop the activity, you can only see HR in the timeline and not in the activity so you don't have the same tools to analyse what happened in your HR. If the break is longer than 3 minutes, it is really a separate activity.

For grouping activities on the same day, the functionality already exists on the watch.
  • There are third party tools available also https://www.fitfiletools.com.

The forum doesn't seem to want to let me post more than a few lines at a time.

I agree with the OP that merging needs to be added. I run Spartan races so the start/stop button is sometimes hit. When it shuts off i stop and start a new activity right away, but at the end you can't merge them to get the gps tracking. I ran one today and it ended up finishing in 3 pieces, it would be great if we could piece them together.
  • i also vote for merging feature. it happens from time to time that suddenly you stop the actvitty instead of leaving to resume it later. so it's the continuation but activities are split. it's really needed!
  • i would also find it uselful for my gym workouts - now I end up with 3 different activities: cardio - strength - cardio. Would be cool to have it as one multisport workout.
  • I also run Spartan and have managed to crop/stop activities during sand bag carry etc. Now I try to remember to lock the keys at activity start.
