Click on your user profile icon (top-right hand corner) > Account settings > privacy settings:
Who sees my activity: Everyone (or my connections)
Participate in segments: Yes
This will only apply to newly created activities. You can go back and edit the privacy of older activities on a per-activity basis, using the padlock icon.
