Feature request: Adding photos to activities without sharing

Unless I am missing something, there is no way to add photos to an activity unless you share it, and sharing it makes it completely public.
It would be nice if we could add a photo to an activity just for our own personal record, regardless of whether it is shared or not.
In the same way that Strava does.
  • Have you made arequest to Garmin through the proper channels?
  • Surely the official Garmin forum for Garmin Connect is a "proper channel"?
  • As has been noted on many occasions, this is a peer-to-peer forum with occasional visits from Garmin...if we're lucky.

So no, this is not the proper channel to ask things of Garmin.

I don't understand why a company would set up a forum and then ignore it. To me this shows poor customer support.
If this was a forum operated by an independent third-party then you would certainly have a valid point.
But this is operated under *.garmin.com

Yes I could send a request to Garmin via email which would be invisible to every other user, but what's the point in that? It goes against the whole point of having a forum where ideas can be discussed.

By all means open threads for discussion, that's exactly what this forum is for.

But if you have a feature request you need to contact Garmin separately to ensure they are aware of it.
  • I appreciate you explaining the (somewhat strange to me) procedures... I have now submitted the feature request by email for this and another one I posted in the forum. Will see what they say.

The point would be to engage Garmin with the intent to make a suggestion or request to the company. Discussing the idea with other users is neither a prerequisite nor the essence of making a suggestion or request; the matter is really between you and Garmin. Neither party needs to hear from other users debate or applaud the perceived merits of a suggestion or request, even though you may want to feel supported by your peers, and Garmin may want to gauge how much demand there is before considering expending resources and effort doing any assessment and/or development work. You don't get to leverage what other users may say in response and strengthen your ‘negotiation’ position in the relationship dynamic. However, if 3,000 Garmin customers independently suggest or request a particular feature, in a way that only Garmin can see without the whole “me too” herd mentality in play, then the company would almost certainly be convinced it's really a highly sought after feature that may benefit the business to provide.

It goes against the whole point of having a forum where ideas can be discussed.

So, by all means, discuss it here without expecting to kill two birds with one stone.
