How to add more columns to dashboard in new design

So I kind of like that the web site is organized more like the mobile app. Once thing I would like to do is add more columns to the dashboards. The tutorial video shows a dashboard with 4 columns, where I can only have 2. What is the trick to adding more columns?
  • Screen size. On my MacBook Pro I get 2 columns, on my work widescreen monitor I get 4.

There must be a 'sort of bug' in the system though. If I add a new Dashboard, I can only get 2 columns on the MacBook. If I then delete the new dashboard, existing dashboards are now showing 3 columns. This changes to 2 when I open the sidebar and back to 3 when closing it. Before that, I could not add a third column and the display was 2 columns. Now it's 3.

It is controlled by the relative size of the text and widget boxes.

At least on Windows, using different browsers, Control + and - changes the sizes and thus the number of columns.
  • Use the zoom on your browser and it will change the number of columns. Zoom out to get more columns.
  • In Safari zoom in/out doesn't really help.

Why is there so much wasted white space top at top ?

Why do they repeat the column title in the data block?

Maximum seems to be 4. On my 2560px wide screen 6 could fit easily, but I get only 4 with a lot of white space to the left and right. The previous layout had at least 5 columns. :(
  • Thanks for the replies

I kind of figured it out myself. I also found that 4 columns was the limit. Fortunately, Chrome remembers the zoom factor for each site, so I don't have to zoom out every time. I also found that if I start at 100% with 2 columns, zoom out so I have 4 columns, then zoom back to 100%, I get 3 columns. Too bad I can't determine how many columns I want. If I want to have 10 columns and a horizontal scroll bar, that should be my choice.
  • 4 years old, but with ultrawide monitors, this web portal should have the ability to configure how many columns wide. That way the user has the control to display things the way you want, most importantly similar panels together.
