Garmin Connect 3.19 Update issues

Aerobic TE field in Activity list is not populated from individual activities. Just reads 0.

  • It is good that Garmin try to improve things but this update seems to have just changed how things look without making any significant improvement. Most of the bugs I reported are still there.

Things in Garmin Connect that I have reported that are not fixed:
    - Normalized Power and Training Effect widgets don't display any data
    - There is no Training Effect (cycling) report. It goes direct to therunning report
    - On returning to the tab in a browser, when I select a new tab the data does not refresh and the tab is blank. It is necessary to click on refresh

Things in Garmin Connect that I reported that are fixed:
-Activity list .csv export did not export all the columns (incl TSS). TSS is now there as the 26th column.

Things I haven't reported but are annoying anyway
    - the Dashboard is noticeably slower to draw,
    - I wished that the Dashboard item was always expanded
    - I think the way that the widgets are arranged in columns is not intuitive and when resizing the browser it upsets the order so that there isn't a way to keep a consistent easy to read set of reports that are always in the same place.
    - the map size in the activity full page display cannot be made to fill the screen. There is no "full screen" option. Resizing, zooming, and collapsing the LHS doesn't make any difference.

But if i don't report things via the official channel they definitely won't get fixed, so perhaps I need to submit some more forms.
  • I can no longer filter by Course or Distance. Now I have to manually scroll-to-load the entire list (hundreds for me) and do an export to Excel. That okay, but the course isn't showing in the export; only the metrics. I'm missing an important feature that I used frequently, especially when I need to compare activities with the same course.

Totally agree, and i've emailed Garmin about this very issue

I've to agree. I'm not really using Connect that much because I use it to xfer to Strava but a few metrics are only available here. This morning I tried to re-arrange the widgets again just to think "OMG" when I faded out the left-side menu-bar because it placed the widgets at different places again.
  • I solved the issue by zooming my chrome display to 90%. The columns have been fine since.

    Courses important

The course filter was one of the features I used most. Please replace.
  • Summary Screen Window not movable

Why I am not able to move the summary window so I can make a screenshot of it as someone removed the Embed functionality
    Happens on iPhone 6 Plus
  • Activities issues, including missing records, no "quick edit"; Dashboard

    Gripes:

    1. When I look in Activities I cannot see my older ones, just a few new ones.
[Update #1: they seem to be accessible via the user Profile page; however, the format is too bulky -- each includes a superfluous map chip -- and it only shows the last 12 months. The simple list format in the last version was much more useful. Update #2: you access them by scrolling to the bottom of the page. This is ok -- but it's slower than before and impractical to access rides from more than the last six months. It would be nice to be able to select (or search on) the calendar year, or year/month. ]

    2. Activities does not list "Event Type" any more and it is not an option, as far as I can see.

    3. Quick Edit was a useful feature in Activities that seems to have disappeared.

    4. When I click on the Bike icon in Activities and select "Road Cycling" I get zero Activities; mine were all listed under "Cycling": how do I make all my activities "Road Cycling"?

    5. Is there any way to revert to the nice dark blue background for the Dashboard, rather than the shiny new white one that hurts my old eyes?

Can anyone advise? I'm sure there are some nice new features but I do wish they could be implemented without breaking things.
  • I used "quick edit" a lot to set the event type for a run e.g. race, training. A pity the event type has gone from the activities list and the quick edit with it. It seems a backward step.

For a single activity, it's still as easy as ever to change the event type of an activity record using the Activities widget on a dashboard. The only real difference now is you don't get to visually scan and/or scroll through twenty activities at a time (using the list on the Activities page) to quickly get to an activity that is not all that recent and then change its event type on the spot – but I don't think it actually requires more clicks now; you simply have to look for the particular activity first and click on it instead on Quick Edit, to get to where you can change its event type.
