While saving that activity as a course and then exporting is a temporary workaround for now, this ability will likely be removed in the near future in order to comply with the upcoming privacy changes.

Okies, so you confirm that will be not anymore the chance to upload on own device or use someone else courses or files?

This is a very stupid change. The aim of a site like Garmin Connect is to share information between runners. Make every information private and GC has become useless.
I often use the export function to get the previous year's course of race I want to run and do a reco with my fenix without getting lost.
Probably time to move to Strava if GC continues with such stupid changes...

By all means, speak for yourself, but don't presume to speak for either Garmin Connect (as ‘a site’ with its own aims that are not yours to decide) or other runners. I purchased Garmin wearable devices, I use Garmin Connect, but I neither actively nor want to share information with other runners, other than perhaps the purpose of answering queries or demonstrating facts on a discussion forum such as this.
  • And you tell us, that the ability to share data will be removed because of privacy changes.

Maybe you need to read the comments closer. You can still export data as the originator of the activity. You cannot export data from another person's activity. Your friends can send you the file (or arrange a share in Dropbox or something). Can't see the problem with that.

By all means go to Strava. I use both primarily because Strava offers elements that I am happy to pay for that are not available in a free site such as Garmin.
  • i will make it easier

    go here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/816484253
click on gear on the right top corner.
you are able to save it as gpx or other format?

In the previous version you could decide this, in this one not.
You have ever read one people in this discussion tell to speak in the name of "garmin"?

Well this is not totally correct. you can still export data but it take 3 steps more.
bit aa you have told... this is not a problem, just a poor UX.

It was not up to you – or any other user for that matter – to decide on behalf of Garmin what “the aim of a site like Garmin Connect is” in the previous version either. That's what I meant by speak for yourself; you can speak to your aim for using a site like Garmin Connect, but not what Garmin's aim/goal/objective is in designing and providing Garmin Connect to users.

Ummm, no, at least exporting an activity of mine hasn't changed with the update. From an open activity, click on the cog, export.
