not able to upload tax files to Garmin Connect

I am trying to upload a tcx file to Garmin Connect and keep getting an error message ("an error occurred"). I googled the error and found a thread which suggested a fix but that doesn't work. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be?

What was the source of the tax file and what does it contain? Also, please note what device you have.

In that case, drop the file into the NEWFILES directory on the device. You can only upload Activities to Garmin Connect, not Routes or Courses.

Thanks. But why - when going via "upload data" it offers me the option of uploading .tcx files?

A tcx can contain an Activity so there is the option to upload a tcx. Your tcx does not contain an Activity it contains a Course which, as I already stated, will not be accepted.
