Elevation is more than 7000 feet too high after Fenix 3 8.30 update

I noticed lately that the elevations reported by Strava were weirdly high, like this morning's run starting at 7278ft of elevation

However I live in the Redwood City, California where according to Wikipedia our elevation is about 20ft.
Strava gets its data from Garmin Connect, and the elevation is wrong in Garmin Connect too.

Looking back it seems the elevations started to be way wrong about two weeks ago. This track from May 16 is wrong

screenshot from Garmin Connect, the software version is 8.30... https://www.screencast.com/t/77eshQVZy
While this track from May 9 at the same park is at least "more correct"

Here's a screenshot of that in Garmin Connect, I note the software is slightly older than a week later.

My device is a Garmin fēnix 3.

Ideas?

I should start by rebooting the watch, I haven't done that in a while.
