Discrepancy in calorie burn: HR vs. logged activity

I'm new to this device so bear with me.

This morning I did my first workout with my vivosmart HR. It recorded 21 intensity minutes (45 minutes for the total workout) and said I had an overall calorie burn of 190 calories based on my heart rate, and I went 0.25 miles. Then when I went to Garmin Connect, it showed the activity associated with those burned calories was walking. Since I was riding a stationary bike that had pre-programmed workouts that automatically adjusts tension, I decided to add the cycling manually. I went 13 miles in 45 minutes and now it says I burned 540ish calories. HUH?? Which one is correct?

Also, do strokes on the bike not count as steps?

Thanks! :)

    ANPIC Bronte

These GArmin wearables are just poor ...sorry to say that but I fight also heavily inaccurate data and sorry but if I need to adjust any little thing, then I dont need the product. I own the fenix 5 for a lot of money and it is pretty inaccurate regarding calories burned, sleep tracking etc. Will seel it again if there are no fixes coming soon and go back to fitbit which was far more accurate.

I am not familiar with the VSHR. I have the VAHR. On the VSHR do you select the type of activity before you start? And if so, what activity did you select.

    That is 17.3 mph.

That is a reasonable estimate for calories burned biking. See http://www.bicycling.com/training/calorie-counter

As to the first activity it is hard to tell without more specific details. But if you got 21 intensity minutes that would be moderate activity levels and the remainder is light. Here are some estimates of calories burned. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=10289

    So 190 might be reasonable.

Also, do strokes on the bike not count as steps?

Steps are counted by the vertical "bounce" of the wrist when hanging down. So you don't get steps on a bike. Nor do you get any if you are pushing s shopping cart or similar.
