Chrome not loading Activities

Former Member
Former Member
Running Win 10.

This problem just started a couple of days ago. I start Garmin Connect and after the Dashboard loads I click on the Activities page, but no Activities actually load in Chrome.

I cleared Garmin-specific cookies. Exited a few times. Rebooted a couple times. No activities load on the Activities page. The only thing that loads is the search criteria boxes. No love. Still a blank page as far as the Activities list goes.

Internet Explorer and Edge both load the Activities. No problem with either of those browsers, just Chrome.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
CampyBob
  • Could you have an ad or popup blocker in Chrome?

pshare, I'm using AVG Free. Chrome had been running Garmin Connect correctly for...however long Chrome has been released. No other pop-up blockers running that I know of. Maybe Windows firewall?

I deleted all Garmin cookies again, rebooted again and the Activities page now loads correctly...kinda sorta.

I did have an "Enable Scrolling" button on the activity map that worked previously. It has now disappeared. Weird. Now I can scroll by mousing the map as I used to in earlier versions of Windows and Garmin Connect.

I did also previously use the master "Edit" pencil shaped icon in the upper right of the screen and it no longer does anything. Weird. I can edit the activity title using the edit pencil icon just to the right of the title, but not the other one. No big deal, but the pencil icon in the upper right seemed to allow longer activity titles (no limit on length or at least I never hit it if there was one).

Thanks for the advice though. I was throwing darts last night just trying to find a combination that worked.
  • Presumably, when you deleted cookies, you also had to log in again right?
I remember having an issue maybe a year ago where logging out and back in fixed it for me.

Same issue - Activities Not uploading and Import data ( .fit files ) not working?

    pshare,

Yes, I had to log back in every time I deleted cookies.

I'm still not sure what causes the issue, but I think I know how to prevent it.

Prior to leaving the house for long training ride I would load all my cycling web sites...Garmin Express, Garmin Connect, STRAVA, Bike Log, etc. so that they were loaded and ready to go when I returned.

Somehow I 'think' Connect, sitting loaded for so long, might have gotten corrupt? Maybe? I'm just guessing here. But, if I do NOT pre-load Connect it seems to load perfectly even though I stay logged into the site.

Am I in left field with that theory?
  • It seems to me that the way your PC handles cache may the culprit rather than corruption.

I have Connect open in a tab in Chrome virtually 24/7 and don't have that issue. However, what I do notice is that Chrome refreshes itself in a mini way before I can refresh the page myself. It's what Chrome does to save memory and there's an option to disable that feature. Of course, I don't recall its name.
