Avg Stride Length-FIXED!

I have a forerunner 235 and the "Avg Stride Length" stat used to be presented under "Running Dynamics". This stat has disappeared in my latest run (run yesterday on 5/4). Is this a one-time blip or is this now a thing?
  • I'm still waiting the Virtual Partner in my FR235...

If an advertised feature is not present out-of-the-box and not delivered in accordance with the officially published (hence expressly promised – none of this “inherent” or “implied” balderdash) time-frame, then I trust consumer law would allow customers who bought the product informed by such an advertisement or company statement (as opposed to hearsay, such as reading about it secondhand from a product review published by a respected reviewer in the industry, who is nevertheless not a company representative) to return the product as not being as described and/or not fit for purpose as marketed by the supplier. The individual customer can demand a ‘repair’ but cannot force the manufacturer or retailer to deliver what he/she wants, and at most he/she can obtain a full refund to undo the unsatisfactory commercial exchange, without any third party unduly concerned about ensuring or facilitating a commercial exchange that is wholly satisfactory from the purchaser's perspective.

Note: I have a FR235. I didn't buy it for the Virtual whatever feature, I never even noticed it being advertised – and by the time I actually considered the model, all mention of such features have long been removed from Garmin's marketing collateral and product descriptions – and I certainly don't see the FR235 as not-as-described or not-fit-for-purpose to warrant my returning it for refund and giving it up.

    Avg Stride Length

It reappeared on my FR 225 during my run today.
  • It was back again at my night run with FR35 yesterday.
  • The stride length got back since 19th may. Thanks!
However, it looks like the data between 2nd and 19th may are definitively lost as they don't show up in the graphs.
Good thing to have it back nonetheless.

No, it's not lost – and GFM1011 (Garmin Forum moderator Joseph) has already ">expressly addressed that point.">expressly addressed that point.

What is the proper way to export and re-upload?

As DASHER11 has indicated there was a fix for this issue released to Garmin Connect this morning. Any new activities uploaded will show this the average stride length. Any activity where this information is missing can be exported and then re-uploaded to Garmin Connect. We do apologize for any inconvenience that this caused.

I've never done this before. Do I export in tcx, delete the activity from Connect, and then import it back in?

    Thanks in advance.

We would recommend that you select Export Original rather than TCX. You can then delete the activity and import it once more.

Export Original gives you a .FIT file that is an exact copy of the data originally uploaded.

There are a couple of FAQs that have Export and Import steps.
  • Sweet thanks for the fix! Exported and re-imported runs all is good trophies returned, the only thing I had to do was rename my runs to what I had them before no biggie.
