How can I see both time and distance for an activity?

Hi guys,

How can I see both the distance I ran and the time it took when I'm looking at a running activity in Garmin Connect? For example, I ran 5.08 km and I want to see how much time it took for the first 4 km, or for the km between 2 and 4. There are different graphs, but all of them seem to show various parameters against time or distance, never both of them in conjunction. That sounds like a very basic feature, but it's either missing or I'm failing to see something quite basic. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Dimitar
  • Autolap of 1km - won't help previous runs but future ones will have splits for each km...

    Well, I already have 300m splits. The 4 km was just an example, I want to be able to analyze different segments of my runs and they aren't necessarily equal or a multiple of something. I can already do that for time or distance and a bunch of other parameters (cadence, temperature, elevation, etc) by just moving the slider left and right, I simply don't see the same graph for time and distance simultaneously. Which I find ridiculous, that's the most basic combo of parameters...
  • As is often the case, this was discussed some time back. You need to submit a feature request to Garmin. Maybe they'll do something, maybe they won't. And since this has only come up very rarely, it'll probably go in the 'might happen before global warming really becomes an issue' basket.

    Actually this feature is available before "Modern View" was introduced. I don't know the reason Garmin removed it, maybe Garmin's engineers are not using Garmin's products after work.
  • Can't remember that far back :confused::rolleyes:

    Hahaha, thanks, guys. I also read this had been possible before the introduction of that Modern connect, but I was still hoping it was something I was just failing to see. I'll send them a feature request and who knows, maybe we'll even see it before hell freezes overs ;)
  • There was a similar complaint a few months ago where an option was mentioned of linking to another site like Strava and using it to view both at the same time.
  • As usual, the best/easiest way to achieve one's functional outcome is not to restrict oneself to a single tool (and endeavour to avoid additional effort and/or expense) for everything, and it's also the way to which most complainants are wilfully blind or stubbornly resistant to consider – not that they're even making the effort to establish and prove they're entitled to the desired outcome from their preferred tool.

    It's not as if persuading someone else to make the effort and provide enhancements for one's own benefit is either easy or righteous in the first place.

    You might be able do that using the bookmarklet described under "Bonus: Summarize splits" on this page:

    https://johanberonius.github.io/fullscreen-maps/garmin-connect/

    I use this and it works pretty slick on Chrome. Open your activity, go to the splits tab, click on the bookmarklet, select the splits you're interested in, then click on Summarize Selected Splits then look under the Time column
